Cooling the backside of the Socket or BGA?

This article suggests that cooling the backside of the socket, or BGA, would definitley help lower your CPU temps. Anyone ever tried anything like that? Results?
I suspect that you would simply cool the thermistor in the socket and the lowered temps would be a reflection of that and not lower CPU temps.

Anyone else?

Yes you are correct you just cool the thermistor causing it seem like its really helping.
Others have tried this and found the same results long ago.

there's an article over at overclockers.com talking about installing some fans behind the mobo...temps dropped by a few degrees C...I believe they ran a thermistor thing through the heatsink, and another some place on the mobo...not remembering the details too well...just that they said it helps
