Cooling SLI cards

I'm building a computer for a friend of mine, and I was wondering (since I'm going for a bit of silence) if it's possible to use Arctic Cooling or something similar on SLI'd 6800GT's?

you want TWO 6800GTs and are going for SILENCE

BWHAHAHA!! you make my laugh . . .

seriously though . . . probably . . . arctic cooling

If you're looking for quiet out of that setup, I'd be looking at some kind of frankenstein water setup...air is going to carry some noise, no matter what.

Arctic Silver/Ceramique will work fine. I have 2 SLI'd 6800Us in which I used Arctic Silver5 and Danger Den Water blocks. No problems. ZERO NOISE. (note the period there) Muhahahaha!

I have heard that this is possible, though it depends greatly on your motherboards setup. The only concern is space as the arctic cooling takes up an extra slot. There are some motherboards that have two PCIex1 slots between the two PCIex16 slots and that allows enough room for the controller card and the arctic cooling.

There should be no setup where you can't but a NV silencer on the bottom card, it's the top that you will have issues.

AFAIK the Asus A8N-SLI is the only NF4 MB with two PCI-E x1 slots in between the x16 slots. You could try the new Zalman VGA cooler instead.

So here is an issue that I am facing (relating to SLI and liquid). As stated I am running 2 SLI'd cards both with a Danger Den NV68 Cooler. I am using 1/2" tygon tubing. When using the stock tube-fittings there is a serious clearance issue when it comes to the bottom cards hoses. Currently it is such a tight fit that the top card is being pushed upward very hard. Does anyone know where I could find a replacement threaded hose-fitting with a right-angle head and low clearance? This would certainly solve the clearance issues encountered when liquid cooling both cards... I have googled and had no luck finding the appropriate hardware 🙁
