Cooling recommendation for 2600k

cmdrdredd

Lifer
Going to be building up a new system and the following components are going to be used.

Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Motherboard
i7 2600k
My current case which is a CoolerMaster HAF932.

So I need a cooling setup that will both fit, and keep my CPU cooled when I overclock it. I'm not going for crazy clocks, but I think 4.4-4.6Ghz is reasonable no? Anyway, I cannot reuse my U-120 because I am keeping this setup intact and transferring it to another case with a different video card for a secondary PC. I am not looking for the cheapest thing out there. I am willing to spend $65+ on a heatsink.

I haven't found any reviews of the newer heatsinks on the market. I'm still searching for a good chart or something so I can get some ideas and look at my options.

Thanks in advance

Cooler Master 212 Evo $35 , Scythe Mugen 3 $50, Thermalright Hr-02 Macho ??$, anything from Noctua. Yes even CM 212 will take you to 4.5

Also one question, is the weight of the cooler a concern? Like if I get the Noctua NH-D14 it weighs 1240g. I don't keep my system on its side. I wonder if it's too heavy...Noctua says no because the mounting system is very secure but I'm not sure.

No, the weight should be fine. I dont think they would be in business for too long if their HSF was snapping mobos lol.

If your that concerned though then grab the Scythe Mugen 3 for 50 bucks. Smaller, lighter, cheaper, just as efficient.

The Mugen is a fantastic cooler that comes with a great fan. If you want to save a couple bucks though and don't mind the noise, the Hyper 212+ performs admirably well, especially at its price point. It has my 2500k at 4.5ghz with 1.31v at just around 63C max stressing with prime95.
