Cooling my video card

Hi,


I have the fan of my old Athlon TBird 1400 MhZ, which I replaced with a new Barton 2500+ and a new fan. I was wondering if I could attach the old TBird fan (6x6) somehow on my video card, a Radeon 9000, because I want to overclock it. Any suggestions on how to do that?

Only that it'll probably be easier just to buy a cheap, dedicated cooler for your card. If I understand your meaning, the answer would be no. Properly, the fan itself should be attached (mounted) to a heatsink, which in turn is attached to the video card.

Considering that most video cards have 40mm fans and you want to mount a 60mm fan (I am guessing that is the size of you fan), I don't see how you can screw it on and I don't think anyone sells an adaptor to do what you want to do.

If you want extreme cooling, you could buy a CPU cooler and bolt it on to your GPU core. Just make sure you have enough clearance to not bump any nearby capacitors. If you don't have any dremel experience, though, i wouldn't recommend it.

In that case, try the Arctic VGA Silencer revision 3.

Jimmy rigging' a CPU cooler to a video card is plain stupid and dumb. Buying a high-end VGA cooler (Zalman ZM80C-HP) that's designed for a videocard is smart.
