Call me a newb....I know it.

I just had someone tell me to make sure I bought a heatsink and cooling fan for my DDR RAM for the system I'm putting together. Can't seem to find anything definitive on this topic. Is this true? Do I really need to do this? If so, how do I find what I need? Any suggestions?

Thx for help.

Nope... you don't need it at all. I'm running my PC2100 DDR SDRAM from Crucial on a 148MHz FSB with the most agressive timings... no problems without "RAMsinks"

Lemme just put it this way. It'll help you squeze out 3 or 4 MHZ memory speed, if that's what your after.

Memory cooling is for the extreme that are bored and have nothing left to tweek.

Ramsinks are a luxury. Even at relatively high speeds, the are seldom really necessary.
