Cooling For AM2 rig

Hi, I'm building a new rig for an AMD X2 4600+. I've heard that the stock cooler is not good enough, and that a Zalman CNPS9500 is overkill. I'm also running a single 7900GT, a single 320GB HDD, and not really much else that needs crazy cooling. If there an effective medium for price/performance in CPU cooling? Thanks guys.

Does the Arctic Freezer Pro come with a retention bracket for AM2? On Newegg it isn't listed to be compatible with AM2.
