hey every,

I am trying to build a C2D System and i was wondering what is the best heatsink to use with the GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 mobo...I am currently looking at the ASUS Silent Square, my first choice was the Tuniq tower but it is nowhere to found...Does anyone have experince using Silent Square with the DS3? Let me know. Thanks in advance.

Wow great find. Thanks...I searched Pricewatch, Pricegrabber, and etc with no matches. Would anyone recomend any other solutions? or is Tuniq the best way to go?

Just get a sunbeam cr-sw. It works well enough because of the tower structure. Tuniq tower is too expensive and is not necessary unless you want to do extensive overclocking... I'm running my 6300 at 400 x 7 easily with the sunbeam cooler. It works better than stock... alghougt stock is pretty good if you use one of those cases with a side intake tunnel.

yes the sunbeam cr-sw is 775 compatible. There's actually one for AMD as well. Note that the installation method is EXACTLY the same as the stock. That means you better take your motherboard out of the case before pushing those pins otherwise you risk breaking the board.

NE's link is here:

Other ones to try:
1. Arctic freezer is a bit more expensive than this. But might be easier to install.
2. Rosewill RCX - Z3 is another Arctic freezer replacement. It's 25 + s/h at NE right now. Great reviews! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835200013
3. There's other tower style ones reviewed by Anandtech a month back. Check those out...

Have you read the articles on this site? They're pretty informative.

There are some alternatives to the Tuniq that are a good bit cheaper. But if you are willing to pay for the absolute lowest temps, then the charts suggest the Tuniq.

Too bad Anand didn't have an Asus in those comparisons. I'm curious.

Yes..i have read about other alternatives to the Tuniq..But although there are some quite good ones, I have noticed nothing can directly match the results with a Tuniq..and not even close (as in 2-3 Degree Diff). Correct me if i am wrong.

No, you've hit it.

I am not looking for extreme overclocks, so paying $30 for the CoolerMaster Hyper6+ is a good option to me. But you are looking for the best performance, so go get your Tuniq. ;)

I am seriously considering the Cooler Master Hyper 6+..How does this stack up against the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7, Sunbeam CR-SW 775, and Rosewill RCX...Also, I am thinking of reaching atmost 3 ghz...if that helps.

I think the Cooler Master Hyper 6+ will outperform many other including the ones you listed. Its performance actually rivals (but not beats) a Tuniq Tower 120. It loses each test by just a few degrees.

Good choice if you decide on that one. Remember however, that when you buy and aftermarket HSF, you might keep it for a long time and use it on many CPUs so...think so and decide wisely....

Good luck....(PS: Just get a Tuniq...;))
