Some may have seen my asking advice on buying a new case and which fans to add for optimum cooling. Here is how my experiment turned out.
My CPU temp before the experiment was 48 degrees with my home thermostat set at 72. After installing all the fans my temp dropped to 39-40 degress with my home thermostat set at 73 degrees. All temps are under load. To determine load I played Quake 3 Arean for about 60-90 minutes.
I paid roughly $65 for my Enlight 7237 (including shipping and a 300W power supply).
I purchased (from 2COOLTEK) two Sunon 80mm High Output fans $17.00 ($8.50 each), two Sunon 92mm fans $18.00 ($9.00) each. I bought the ALPHA PAL6036 HSF $30.00 (I had the HSF installed before adding the case fans).
I used a hole saw (3 1/2 inch) to cut the hole in the back (below the power supply) and the hole in the top of the case where I mounted the 92s. I used a dremel tool and a cut off wheel to make an oval opening for the 80s in the front. The two 80s were "zip tied" together in the center and all fans were mounted with 8/32 X 1/14 bolts and nuts.
