Cooling a Phenom 9850BE

I have a rig running a Phenom 9850 Black Edition, currently cooled by an ACALP64 heatsink/fan. The device worked great on the Athlon64 X2 3400 that I had in the box before the upgrade but the Phenom is getting quite a bit toastier and I'm hoping to put some heavier-duty cooling on it.

I'd rather not go the water route, if only because the somewhat generic case I have really isn't built for it and I haven't done my homework yet on running a proper WC setup.

The HSF I was thinking of getting was this: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16835118223

Is that going to do the trick? If not, there's a 120mm version as well. Or should I be looking at a different design style for my cooling needs (tower/block instead of circular)?

Also, some people reported in the Newegg feedback that it can get loose over time due to weight. Is it better to lay the case on its side so the HSF is weighing directly down on the CPU instead of "prying" off on one side slowly? Or doesn't it matter?

Thanks!

I've got that Zalman cooler on an Athlon 64 X2 (Socket 939). It hasn't pryed or moved at all, and it's been installed for years and moved between cases without reinstalling. However, I think the design might be kind of dated, and it definitely accumulates dust. Plus, if the fan starts grinding, as mine did, it's stuck in the HSF.

For the same price, you can get one of these - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233029 - which might work better for you. The included mounting options for AMD have it blowing up out of the top of the case (or towards the bottom), if you don't like the idea there's an AM2 mounting kit somewhere on NewEgg that lets you mount it the usual way, blowing out of the back.
