Coolest (i.e. NO fan, heatsink-ONLY) current video card

Hi there,

A lot of people have been asking lately "What video card should I buy?" on these forums, so I know regulars here must be sick of hearing this question.

But here's a real challenge. I'm trying to put together a quiet, yet reasonably powerful SFF computer.

I know that (space permitting) I can get a pipe-heatsink cooler, (that is, if the space inside a Shuttle or a Q-Bic would allow it - I doubt it...) but I was wondering, what's the fastest card currently on the market that still doesn't have a fan, and uses just a heatsink?

no, seriously, he answered your question. the Gigabyte is a passively cooled 6800, the fastest passively cooled card on the market right now.

It's true. Check Newegg for the Gigabyte 6800 non ultra. It has a large, fanless heatsink on it.

I'm in the same boat and the 6800's the card I've been keeping my eye on. Gigabyte also makes a 6600GT (pci-express version) but I haven't seen it out anywhere.

ahh, sorry, fellow Canuck, you have to admit it sounded implausible that a new, latest-generation card, which was known to even need an extra molex connector, would actually have no need for a fan :)

Indeed. Glad to see my suggestion is being looked at seriously though. :)
