I am sure there are more expensive and "better" headphones. But these are the best "reasonably" priced headphones I have worn. Plus I believe their claim of the world's first 5.1 headphones is not just marketing bull, I think it is correct.

whoa... open-aired headphones with dolby digital, dolby surround, and DTS decoder?? dang now wonder it's so expensive.

I myslef like the MDR-V700DJ... i'm not a crazy audiophile though, so it's a bit expensive for my tastes. Heard it's got an overpowering low end too. But it sure looks slick!

You could get a pair of HD600s from Sennheiser for cheaper than that. I'd avoid Sony when listening to music. But the dolby digital option for this Sony HD may be useful for movies.

Hmmm...that rocks! LOL, it would be perfect if I was a lonely spinster who liked to watch movies. Heh, but I'm a male that generally watches movies with other people. hehe, what were they thinking with that decoder though!? When will it come in handy? It's cool but...why????

I tried out those headphones with a dts movie on a huge hdtv at the Sony Metreon. They sounded great! The surround sound is awesome, you can hear sounds coming from in front of you, in back, left, right, diagonal, anywhere and the quality was awesome. They worked as good as any home theater system. But because they're only headphones, it was missing the bass. you can't get that bass that you feel through your chest like you do from a subwoofer....so because of that..i give it two big smelly toes down

THAT is sweet! I must admit it is the coolest I have seen! I am not sure if it can live up to its claims but it looks like it means business!

Shagga - Sony may say they cost $499 but if you shop elsewhere you can get them much cheaper.
