Coolermaster hhc-001 heatsink

Apparently the coolermaster hhc-001 USes a heat transferrant heat pipe system witch involves the evaopration and re condensation of some form of low boiling point liquid inside the pipe. My question is, once the liquid has condensed at the top of the pipe, how dose it travel back to the heat sink base? gravity? If so then i fear that the heat sink performance would be greatly inhibited if it were mounted vertically in an upright case instead of horazontally in a desktop case.

Can anyone clear this up for me as I am interested in purchasing on of these Heatsinks and would appreciate anyone shedding some light on this topic.
 
I dont think its literally liquid inside the heatpipes... its some sort of porous material that perhaps liquifies with heat. There was a review of it somewhere where they opened it up and tore off the heatpipes to see if it was effective. It was supposedly worth 3-4 degrees.
