I'm thinking of going the liquid cooling route, but have a hard time spending the scratch if I'm not going to get [significantly] lower temps from it. Right now, I have an AMD Athlon64 3400+ (no need to OC it at all) that runs up to the high 30's to low 40's for processor temps (through various software that checks it, including MBM5). I'd like to see that go to the low 30's under load (if not lower). I already have two intake and exhaust case fans (80mm units), and the stock HSF on the processor...
I'd like to know if anyone is using the Coolermaster unit in a similar setting and what kind of temps' they're getting. I'd also like to know of any QUALITY (but not costing a small fortune) processor coolers that will reduce the temps, not turn the system into a jet engine (level of noise coming from it) and not bust my bank account. I'm even thinking of trying to get my front fans to pull more air in (removing them from the mobo feeds and running them directly from the power supply) to see if that helps. Especially since the case temp is a bit more than I'd like.
For other liquid cooling routes... I don't need a "sexy" cooler, just one that does a really good job, won't [again] kill my bank account, doesn't sound like a jet on take-off (like one of the U2 spy plans, for those that live near an air force base) and I won't need to worry about leaking or gaking on me.
Let's hear from those in the know...
