might be a dumb question, but is this for 4 pin fans or 3? or do fan speed controllers only work with 3 pins?

Speed controllers work with any fan that uses 12V power (some may have more or less of a controllable range - one of mine only works from around 10 to a bit over 12, so some experimentation is in order).
. You may need to learn how to bypass any speed control (thermal or other) that your fan(s) may have built in. Two pin fans don't need an adapter, just need to trim off one of the guide ears on the female connector. Or you can pull the contacts out of the two pin shell and insert them in a 3-pin shell - I got some green UV 3-pin shells from SVC on the same order as my Aerogate I (39 cents each)...

thx, i bought a fan speed controller and 3 to 4 pin adapters a couple weeks ago, but unfortunately the adapters had male ends for the 3 pin (and only male ends are on the 3 pin fan speed controller) so i gotta get a friend to help with some cable rearranging/splicing/whatever. But yeah, this is an awesome deal, much better than what I paid for mine. thx for posting the deal, i only wish it had been 2 weeks ago:p

nice deal if you are ordering a decent amount of stuff, otherwise shipping is killer. I was going to pick up 4 fans, but shipping was $6.73 for UPS ground, not worth it.

Use one of their other shipping options for small orders - I use first class mail for orders that weigh 12 oz and under (waive insurance to save another $1.30), and Priority Mail for heavier orders. Faster than UPS ground and often cheaper. Even though my last order (the CAG1 fan controller, a Silverstone front ports panel and some small parts came to about $10. for Priority Mail), I'm still saving many bucks over buying them anywhere else. YMMV.

I received my CAG1 and other items today. The CAG1 looks very nice. Instructions are pathetic - no pics or line drawings except on the front page...

NICE! Only $3.99 shipping to me according to UPS.com. I wonder if they will jack it up upon checkout? Only 1 way to find out...

They have a button that you push to change colors, does anyone know if there is a way to set the default color it boots up at?

I wish I there was a way to do that, I hate the stupid default red. Somehow im thinking the design is too crappy to be able to set a default color.

However at $5 I can hardly complain. SVC is probably selling this at cost...or even at a loss. Who knows....

Seems like there'd be a way to permanately mod it. I'm sure someone here could figure it out.

The pins are very close. Be careful.
Make sure you identify the 5V and 0V connections.
You can use a multi meter while the controller is powered up to make sure.
