Anyone have experience with this case? I'm looking for a micro atx case that's aluminum that can also accomodate a real power supply. How easy is it to live with this case? Can it be converted into upright configurations if needed?

You can convert it to up right position, but you will have 4 rubber feets on its side. I played this case before and it was pretty straight forward to work with. Panel finish is a beauty. The case blends well with my receiver.
Due to limited shelf space, I had to stack my 50lbs receiver on top of the case. I thought the receiver weight might crush the case, but it never did :) I did put some pads in between to prevent scratches.

If price is a concern, then ATC-620 might be the choice. I believe it's near $100 cheaper.

I had an ATC-600 for a (very) little while. It looked good, but it was a pain in the ass to work in (IMO). Cooling was also mediocre at best. However, if all you are after is an HTPC that you're not going to monkey with very much, it's a good case.
