Mark:
(An update on a previous post on this page): I successfully ran for several hours under load (POEM), a mixed system with a 980 and a 980Ti. (WinTenPro)

I have heard you can even mix in some ATI/AMD. I might give that a try someday soon.

Tony, my 1080 finally got a 11403 unit so I can compare ppd. I get almost 900k. If the same holds for the majority of units I get, then the 1070 may average 400-450k, and thats lower than my 980TI. It only has 2/3rds the cuda cores of the 980TI, and that if the biggest driver of ppd from my observation

Not trying to down the card as I don't have one, but just an observation.

Damn, why can't I get WU's like this all the time: (note my last 24 hours are 300k below average)

The Future of POEM@HOME
Dear POEM@HOME community,

first of all we want to express our deepest gratitude for every contributor to our project. Last year we developed a GPU optimized version of SIMONA, which is used as part of POEM@HOME, which speeds up the calculations by various magnitudes. Due to this speedup it has been very hard for us to supply sufficient work to saturate our BOINC project.
Therefore after eight years running, we have so much computational power that we do not require your large and generous contributions to conduct our science anymore. At the same time other, smaller and bigger projects require more computational power than ever.

The GPU accelerated algorithm will be open-sourced so that other groups can use the efficient forcefield freely to conduct research on GPU clusters on their own (the timeframe for this will be until Christmas. The code is ready to be shipped and the paper is written, but needs to be peer-reviewed before).

We are sorry for the hiccups in the last month; we would have liked to prepare a cleaner and better run of the final tasks.

Thank you again for your amazing support and we hope that your contributions will help other BOINC projects from now on. We want to especially thank Vladimir Tankovich for his contributions to the GPU code.

Best regards,
The POEM@HOME admin team

P.S.: We will keep the forums and website open for some time and will gradually empty the queue and shutdown the server daemons after approximately 2 months. 4 Oct 2016, 12:48:08 UTC ·

This news is similar to watching your ex-wife drive over a cliff...in your brand new Ferrari.

Mixed emotions... thrilled with the technological development, thrilled that it is open source so that others might benefit as well, saddened by the loss of a favorite project.

This news will be of benefit to other BOINC projects, regardless of their ability to incorporate the new code. POEM had/has a LOT of horsepower to spend on other BOINC endeavors.

I have pulled out of the week long test of the GTX1070's, for folding, as I am satisfied with the results so far. I am trying to get some POEM before they close down. 🙁 So far no tasks at all. :'(

Looks like 1.1 -1.2 million PPD for a pair on a i7-5820k system, for folding at home.

Tony, are you going to fire up at least half the farm one week before Peter starts the race setup ? right now I am about 60% of the entire team, so it would be me against everyone else, and I still have more ppd. So I guess you need to be on the other team, but we need a ppd that is within a million or 2 of your estimated total. And that takes 7 days to get averaged. I am already close.

What would we do with Pokey? 😀 He's been TOO quiet lately....I know those 970's are paying dividends like crazy, and were a wise investment...but you never know what surprises he may hold.

I'd planned on a few days early start, yes, probably not a week, but hopefully we'll be on the same team, battling some Canadians. 🙂 Last year I messaged petrusbroder, letting him know what I had to offer, to help him divide the teams.

I am probably too honest, as my sig includes all my current plans. But who knows, I might get one more something. It is cool that I snagged an AX1200i refurb for $120 !
