Cooler suggestions for Phenom X4 9850?

Need some recommendations for coolers that will not block one or more RAM slots, expansion slots, or other components, and it must definitely fit a typical full-tower case. If possible, I would like it to be fairly quiet, but size is more important. I am not interested in liquid cooling stuff. Also, it must be currently on the market, and easy to buy in the USA. Any ideas?

For an older cpu like that, i'd recommend this Rosewill cooler:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835200014

Rosewill RCX-Z1 Long life ball bearing for over 45,000/hrs CPU Cooler

$14.99 and free shipping. Gets great reviews and won't block any ram slots.

No point in going overboard on cooling for such an old cpu. This should work fine for you.

I disagree wholeheartedly, it may be old, but it is HOT. Use at least the AMD stock cooler that features heat-pipes, should be able to score them on eBay for cheap, I dont have a specific recommendation for an aftermarket cooler, hopefully someone else will chime in.

i believe ive read that the cooler master tx3 doesnt block ram slots... seems like a decent cooler. seems better in a push/pull config.

I'll only recommend one I've actually had experience with.

It didn't block the ram slots on the two motherboards I've had it on (ECS A970M-A DELUXE and ASUS M4A89GTD PRO). My ram is standard height. It has a built in AMD clip that is in the correct direction so you can orient the cooler to exhaust out the rear. Installation takes a few minutes because of that clip and can be done without removing the motherboard if your case has enough room to move around. Cooling is decent - probably about like a Hyper 212 Plus. I have it on an X4 980 BE @ 4.1 Ghz right now and it stayed at 55C doing Prime95 and averages 40-42C while gaming. I did catch it on sale so it was $24 when I bought it. Its not the best cooler in the world, but its one of the few left with an AMD clip that allows you to use the stock bracket on the motherboard.

I will study the recommendations for reviews, specs, and so on, to see which best fits my needs. Thanks again!
