Cooler Master's DHT heatsink, the "Vortex Plus". Anyone try it yet?

A friend of mine bought it and hates it. He hates it because of the noise he describes as shrieking, and curses a review he saw (ninjalane or something) that absolutely praised it.

It is not a performance cooler, that is for sure, but I suppose it would serve the purpose of adequate cooling in a tight/small case that could only fit low-profile heatsinks.

Based on frostytech, its performance is somewhere between the two standard HSF that AMD uses:
- better than the all-around-crappy stock HSF for 90W and lower TDP processors (block of aluminum fins with a fan)
- worse than the good but loud stock HSF for 125W and higher TDP processors (the stock AMD HSF that has heatpipes)

The fan is replaceable you know. He doesn't have to stick with the "shrieking" fan.

Sure it is. You asked for comments about it, I gave mine to you. Beyond that, not saying anything else, such as the HSF being ruined by the noise of the fan. Also, this is not a personal account; it is "second-hand" info, as I have never heard it for myself, and am going strictly by what my friend told me.

My friend did replace the fan eventually, when he got around to it.
