Cooler Master PSU's?

I'm looking for a PSU for a new PC I'm building, and I want a PSU from 400-450 watts, in case there's some more power-hungry things I want to upgrade to in the future. I was looking at the COOLER MASTER Real Power RS-450-ACLY, because I know CM is good for cooling and cases (the build has a Centurion 5 in the wishlist), and it's a good deal cheaper than an OCZ. My question is, is CM a good PSU brand?

Okay then. If anyone has any objections towards CM though, I'm also considering a 430W SeaSonic ($100) and a 450W Fortron ($50).

edit: I'm no longer considering the SeaSonic; its amperes on the 12V rail are too low.
The CM has 12V1-18A, and 12V2-16A.
The Fortron has 18A on both of the 12V rails.

Those 18A's on the Forton's 12v rails are peak, power not continuous. If you don't mind spending the extra cash the Seasonic is the best choice, otherwise I'd say go with the Forton.

CM is ok, but they ain't no Seasonic. Others like Fortron and Tagan (new badasses) are probably better for the same money.

My problem with the SeaSonic is the amp ratings, which are +12V1@14A, +12V2@15A. AFAIK, that's pretty low.

edit: My other choice to any of these PSU's would be an OCZ ModStream.

Yes, but as Oper stated that is CONTINUOUS power. The Seasonic (I use pcp&c) is IMO, and many others as well, in the top 3 psu's made. The Seasonic is very quiet if you treasure silence. Out of the others you mentioned, if not the Seasonic, then I would opt for the Fortron Source.

The Seasonic has a total of 29 amps of 12v power, that?s 348 watts; more then you'll ever be able to use.

If you want a truly good PSU, why not spend the extra money and get a model from an establishlished, well-known company? The extra cash you spend will buy you features, longevity, stability and peace-of-mind over the long-haul.

I thought OCZ was a fairly established PSU maker. They were my first consideration, but I saw a cheaper CM PSU, and CM is a good campany, as well. Now I'm going for the SeaSonic. I don't think I need a PCP&C ;)

As I stated earlier in your thread VRXJudge.....

People going to try to persuade you that there choice is best....

When in fact you are doing just fine making up your own mind with what you are considering.

Hell...people can`t even decide if dual or single 12 v rails are the way to go.

Your doing well VRX!!:)

OCZ doesn?t build their own units they are built by Topower, more of a budget PSU manufacture. Forton and Seasonic are both PSU manufactures and can be found in the high end systems of OEMs.

Seasonic recently switched over to all Japanese caps in their designs, more expensive but it shows in the quality and performance.

Not compared to companies like PCP&C and Enermax. When I was replacing my Vantec Stealth 520 I thought about going with something cheaper, but decided against it. For the extra expense I was rewared with a full-featured, rock-solid PSU that runs my power-hungry rig without skipping a beat. And my wiring, and the surrounding grid, aren't the best.

It's, of course, your choice/wallet, V. But $60 extra for some peace-of-mind is cheap. ;)

Since when is it any different here? The point is that the OP asked for advice.

Topower and Enermax come from the same factory IIRC. I wouldn't exactly call Enermax "budget", although they're not quite in the same league as Seasonic.

Actually she asked for a specific kind of advice....did she not?

Not just any advice or opinions will do....true?

Topower is manufacture, Enermax is not; they are built by ChannelWell.

Depends on who you believe. According to this reviewer, Topower, Enermax, and SuperFlower (TTGI) all come from the same factory line in China.

No real way to fact check this, but apparently everyone is making everyone else's PSUs these days. I say just triangulate which ones rock and which ones don't via reviews, anecdotes, etc....the usual method of fettering out quality components.

one thing is clear, Fortron makes their own power supplies. Sparkles are basically Fortrons with a Sparkle name on it. same power supplies

i trust them over any other manufacturer in terms of performance and reliability

Fortron, Seasonic, and PCP&C are pretty much the top 3 these days, no real question there. Seasonic is especially nice these days. I love their "ribcage" heatsinks - definitely reeking of quality. My only real gripe would be that they don't offer a unit with a single beefy 12v rail, but I'll live.

PCP&C is very impressive, but they seem feature light, especially for the price. They put out great power, but where are our modular units? Our rail-tweaking screws? Etc?

On a related note, I just ordered in a Tagan 480 watt which should be here tomorrow or the next day. Judging by the reviews, it's a badass supply. I'm hoping more ATers will look at 'em in the future and see if we have a new contender in the PSU fights :D There certainly seems to be potential there.
