Cooler Master Hyper 212+ & Thermalright TY-140

Radeon962

Just curious if anyone has tried fitting a 140mm Thermalright TY-140 on the Hyper 212+? The TY-140 is a 140mm fan but is made for a 120mm mount. Seems like the dimensions on the Hyper 212+ would allow it.

I want to split the pwm CPU header on my GA-P55M-UD2 for a TY-140 on the CPU and then a TY-140 for the rear exhaust.

Might just go Scythe PWM, but the idea of a 140mm fan pushing more air at lower speeds sounds good.

Thanks, Bill

Is that Thermaltake fan really any better than a good 120mm fan? Why I asked is because I once bought a Thermaltake fan like that. It had 120mm mounts but was advertised as a 130mm fan and had a round fan cage. However, the blade assembly itself was EXACTLY the same as a 120mm fan so the only difference was they made the outer part bigger - it pushed the same exact air!

It was the Thermaltake Silent Wheel.

I laid it over a 120mm fan and the blade assembly was EXACT same diameter.

the noctua and thermalright are actually bigger, whether they perform 'that' much better than a gentle typhoon is debatable. At best they are larger so they can spin a bit slower and be less noisy.
