Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - AM3 mounting method?

How does this heatsink mount on an AM3 system? Does it clamp down onto the existing mobo brackets, or does it require you to mod the motherboard and remove the stock AM3 mounting brackets, and use a baseplate?

Definitely need to use supplied mb backplane. Plan on pulling the mb. Good inexpensive air cooler.

AFAIK backplate is required. I had one (until yesterday) on a Core i7 clocked to 4GHz at around 1.4v. Prime95 small FFTs would load it to 100°C before I would stop the test. 😱

you need to remove the stock am3 bracket then mount it with the included backplate. have one mounted on my am2+ board.
