Definitely need to use supplied mb backplane. Plan on pulling the mb. Good inexpensive air cooler.

AFAIK backplate is required. I had one (until yesterday) on a Core i7 clocked to 4GHz at around 1.4v. Prime95 small FFTs would load it to 100°C before I would stop the test. :eek:

you need to remove the stock am3 bracket then mount it with the included backplate. have one mounted on my am2+ board.
