Recently I bought this PSU and I heard a lot negative feedbacks on it. The unit I have is still factory sealed, has anyone here using the GX series PSU without a problem?

I read on some review and know the noise level is too high for the gx series and it may damages your compontents while under overload. plus the fan is loud enough under normal load.

if gx750 is safe to use at 450w, then gx650 maybe only 400w is the safe zone?

my current setup is
2600k
gigabyte-ud3r
2x2gb kingston dd3 ram
sap hd6850
dvd-writer

this would be about 500w total according to power calculator.

so if anyone here that is using gx550 or 650 or 750 atm, please post ur feedbacks D:

Where did you buy it? I would just return it if you can.

They are a steaming pile of fail no matter how much power you pull from them.

I'm sticking with antec. Got one that's over 2 years old and it's still going strong. Powering an overclocked i7 and an overclocked gtx 580 with no issues at all. Pretty impressive for a power supply that's been in use for over 2 years IMO.

This unit cost about 110usd in newzealand, well at least that is the price i bought.
what do you guys suggest for my spec? I doublt I will go crossfire , so 650w is plenty for me.
the price for antec truepower 650w and Corsair TX650 are close, I would probably just pick up one of them instead and return my gx650 for credit

You only need a 500W PSU. The 6850 is hardly a power hog.

Anyways, I would avoid the Cooler Master GX line and get an Antec or Corsair PSU.

I have narrowed down to 3 650w units they are all modular units.

Corsair CMPSU-650HX 650W 185.85NZD
Antec TruePower New Series 650W 192NZD
Thermaltake Evo Blue 650W 194nzd

it turns out that corsair would be my choice.

according to my setup up , I think 650w should be the best as i don`t feel like to overload the psu too much.

cpu i7 2600k gona oc a bit
gigabyte ud3r
hd6850
1xdvd
2xhdd 2tb WD green power.
212+ cooler
2x case fans

IMO, the only power supply brands worth considering are:

(in no particular order)

Corsair
XFX
SeaSonic
Antec

While there are probably others that are as good, the above are the only ones I'd trust for one of my computers.
