Cooler Master DP5-6H51

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about this cooler? Is it an ok overclocker? Building a Duron 700, hoping to get it to at least 930.

The Coolermaster HSF is not the best choice for OCing. I would suggest going with a Globalwin FOP-38, Alpha PAL6035 or PEP66, Kanie Hedgehog, TaiSol CGK or the new Vantec. Switechs are good, but they cost way too much.

Take a look at Mike's HSF ranks. He's an expert on HSFs.

I'm debating on whether to get the TaiSol or Alpha. I've too many stories about Globalwin's pain a$$ clip. The Hedgehog are a bit too expensive. The Vantec uses a 38CFM 46dBa fan which is very LOUD!

Edit: Don't get the SuperOrb or ChromeOrb.
2CoolTek has a well done HSF testing.

Though everyone on this forum bashes the DP5-6H51, I had great success with this heatsink.
I had a duron 600@1000 with it.
Now I am using PAl6035 and Taisol 742. Both are good. If you are tight on budget, get the coolermaster. IMO, there is no point in spending $30 for a heatsink to use on a $40 processor.
If you are getting a high end T-bird, I will suggest you spend the extra cash to get better cooler.

Thx for the replies guys. Budget is one of my primary concerns. I've seen the Cooler Master for $15 shipped. The others are coming in at $20-$25 before shipping. I guess $10 isn't really too much, though.

tigereye: For what it's worth, I use Cooler Master's DP5-6H11 HSF on a Duron 700 that's been stable at 1083MHz for 3+ months.

I use this cooler on a PIII-700 and it works very well compared to the retail HS/Fan.

I'm wavering back and forth between this one, and the fop-32 for a couple of bucks more, will probably spend the $5.

Go with the fop-32 if it's only $5 more because then you'll have a more reliable HS for overclocking..
