yeah - does anybody actually have any experience typing on one of these ?

not hot

that company you linked could buy 5 of these then tack on a dollar, add their shipping price and they just made 4 bucks from reselling.

or 20 bucks if they sell all 5 by advertising here... etc etc etc

Yeah I currently own the Viewsonic version of this type of keyboard and in my opinion it is not that nice to type on.

I got it becasue I totally love typing on a Thinkpad keyboard and thought that this flat thing would be similar but for some reason it just does not feel right and I tend to misspell a whole lot more when I type fast.

My regular Dell keyboard at work is way more comfy.

The Viewsonic version is a lot like a laptop keyboard... if you're into that sort of thing.

oh man, it's a compact size.

Notice the placement of the arrow and pageup/down/home/end cluster?

I was actually needing to order a dozen or so USB keyboards.....but I'll pass on these....

I'm considering getting one for LAN parties. My current keyboard isn't huge, but the Viewsonic version is extremely thin and compact. Not the greatest to type on, but I'm willing to make sacrifices for portability (gotta have something that matches my SN45G 😀)

Sometimes a narrower keyboard is neccessary in tight quarters.
I have an IBM, black, multimedia keyboard that is narrow.
Between the main keys and the number keypad is a single row of keys rather than the usual three rows.

I'm looking for a silent keyboard.
I want no typing noise while I type.
Anyone know of a silent keyboard?

What is better between scissor, spring and rubber type key mechanisms?
Which is the quietest?

Thanks

I love laptop keyboards but it feels more like a Dell than a Thinkpad. IBM lappy keyboards are the sh!t in my opinion.

You don't make too much sense. Don't most companies do this when they buy from venders anyway? The chances are both Newegg and Dealsonic bought these keyboards for like $6-$10 each and now are selling 'em for $12.99-$14.99. That's how they make money. This might not be that hot of a deal, but your reason for 'not hot' is certain something that you didn't give too much thoughts about. Newegg charges $5 for shipping, so the $4.95 from the Dealsonic is not something out of the ordinary.

More generally, IBM keyboards 0wn j00. I have a couple of Model Ms at work...nice clicky feel, you can find them used (but in good shape) for about what you'd pay for a run-of-the-mill keyboard, and it can double as a weapon if necessary. How cool is that? 😀 (My last one cost only $1...keyboard deals don't get any hotter than that.)

i'm sorry, let me spell it out for you

NOT HOT BECAUSE:
You only save a dollar over newegg's price, and you can't beat newegg's service. The End.

Nobody said it was hot to begin with 🙂 You can relax and perhaps some people might actually find this thread useful. Especially without your inconsiderate replies of 'not hot' 'not hot'.

dealsonic (aka 'that company') has a resellerrating of 9.85 (9.67 lifetime) and has been around for quite some time and i doubt what you're referring to is what they do.

//krunk (^_^x)

I have this keyboard and bought it for a lot more than this.....

I also wanted a laptop-ish keyboard WITH the keys in the right place! At first it sucked cuz the the keys don't depress as much as even a laptop. Also,, it's alittle loud in a cheapy sorta way.

With all that aside (sounds like a lot), I like it now. Just took some time to get used to. I like not having to press keys so deep. It looks hella nice as well.

I have a similar keyboard, the Logitech Ultra X. It's a laptop style keyboard with a proper, full size layout. Z-Buy sells them (where I got mine). I love it. I started a thread about it some time ago.
