Hi all,

I have all part for my new build except the Cpu which will be a Q9650. when i will order it i want to order a cpu cooler.

Note that i do not plan to overclock (at least not now).

I want to know a good cpu cooler that i will fit an Antec 900 with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P.

At the moment i'm looking for the OCZ Vendetta 2 which is not too expensive to look to perform very well.. but i do not know if this cooler will fit the case well since it kinda big.

Is there others cooler should i look for ?

Last thing i would like to know if there is a way to add Dust Filter to antec 900 without any case modifications ?

Thanks

Save $6 and get the Xigmatek S1283. It's the same heatsink as the OCZ (OCZ licensed the design from Zigmatek, who originally made it). It will fit in the 900 easily

I have the OCZ Vendetta 2 on my EP45-UD3P with no clearance issues, if you decide on Vendetta 2 make sure you get the mounting bracket to replace those crappy pushpins. To tell you how big this cooler is i have a Coolermaster Cosmos S case which is one huge mother of a case, the OCZ Vendetta 2 came about 1 inch or so from hitting my side panel, freakin unreal

This is very important!!!! I forgot to mention that the EP45-UD3P sets the Vtt to 1.75 on auto!!!!!!!!! Intel recommends no more then 1.45, anandtech had an article where they nuked a Q9650 in a month because they set the Vtt at 1.5 for an overclock, please go in your bios and drop your Vtt under 1.45.. The bios will show Vtt as CPU Termination, the life of your processor depends on it...

I have the same cooler and its huge if I have my 120mm side fan a 1/2" higher it would have bumped into the cooler :) I have a old Antec case thats pretty big too..

I know what you mean it's a huge mother, i have a 200mm fan on my Cosmos S and the Vendetta 2 was hitting the corner of the fan not allowing the side panel to close all the way, i broke out the dremel tool and cutting wheel and shaved a corner off the fan and now my side panel closes with no problems, easy mod with no damage to the fan..

Damn it's good to know...!!!
I have never assembled a full computer and i was going to do it, but those are kind of thing that i do not know and can be critical...

This is making me worrying about buildling it myself... i do do not want to broke some expensive parts about things i do not know.

maybe i'm better to pay someone to build it for me.

For the CPU cooling i will get the Vendetta with the mounting bracket along with Ocz Freeze paste.

Now a new problem, i already got an Antec 900 case but i want to replace it for something else. (reason are the lack of Filters and no cable management)

Any suggestion on a good case with easy to remove filters, have good cable management ,good cooling and not too expensive ?

Thanks

Maculosa, don't let that scare you off my man.. Go ahead and put her together yourself you'll be just fine, once you get the computer to post just go in the bios and change cpu termination from Auto to 1.2v.. As for your case, how much are you looking to spend?? Full tower or Mid tower?? I'm not sure what your budget is but here are few case, you be the judge...

Yeah, don't let that scare you off. To be honest I think that it was probably a bug of some sort for Elusiv1, because this is the first mention of anything like that I have heard

if Elusiv1 got a bug with his motherboard, normally i should leave it auto and it should be fine?
I have never overclocked and i never played with hardware voltage so i must be 100% sure before changing anything... i do not want to screw up my new build.

As for cases you listed the antec 900 which is the one i already have and want to change it.
Thanks for others, i will check them out.

On my side i'm looking for the Antec P182. opinion on this one?

My build goes by this (got all parts except * which will be bought very soon)

- Case : Antec 900 (will be probably replaced by ... )
- Psu : Corsair 750TX
- MB : Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P
* CPU : Q9650
* Cooler : OCZ Vendetta 2 + Mounting bracket + OCZ Freeze paste
- RAM : 4 x 2gig Mushkin Redline PC8000
- GPU : BFG GTX 260 OC Maxcore
* HD : 2 x WD Black Caviar 640GB 32meg
* DVD Burner : Pionner DVR-216
- Keyboard : Logitech G15
- Mouse : Logitech G9

What do you guys think of the new Cooler Master Storm Sniper case?
It's around the same price as the Antec 1200. It look like a very good case!

Man that case is badass, i love the open mesh design and the front control panel.. There are a ton of usb ports and a fan controller, very nice!! I wonder if it's already out, i'm going to have to check newegg for a price.

I'm seriously considering that case... and yes it's out (at least it's available in canada)
for around 200$ can... i think it's a bit pricy but it look nice!

Edit : The retail version of the sniper, unfortunatly the interior is not painted black like the prototype version.
