coolbits

as far as i know its the same thing. not sure why they have 2 and 3. its just a reg entry, and should work fine with your 66.93's

coolbits 2 was made by some moron that didnt have a clue what he was opening up.
coolbits 3 is for HT systems... i think.

use the original coolbits.reg

I use the original one that's ONLY the registry mod. None of the extra crap that people have felt the need to try to include.

I put it in my webspace here.

To be honest I have no idea... but I do know that my 1 KB file does exactly what I want it to do... allow clockspeed adjustments. 🙂

*EDIT* I believe there's fan controls and different style menu's. Pretty useless if you ask me...

CB2 is garbage, extra pages of cr@p that doesnt even work.
in some cases youll lose options!
in the worst cases, youll be unstable or lose OC.

coolbits.reg is all ya need like Jeff said 🙂

(yep, still tryin to eek out every bit of performance i can out of my 6800GT 😀)

I've seen a new(er) utility that incorporates Coolbits, Coolbits2 and Coolbits 3D into one application.

However, I cannot recall it's name, as I'm at work and that is located on my home machine.

Doh!

Someone here should know what it is called though..

"300 KB of Useless Crap to do 1 KB Worth of Work?" 😀

Well (this doesn't apply to me) some people aren't comfortable in editing the registry and the application I mentioned (NVTweak) allows individual control over the driver tabs as well as various other options.

http://nvtweak.laptopvideo2go.com/

Quote from the author...

"I realize everyone will have different preferences to what options they will use in the control panel. So instead of working on a .reg file (most people don't know how to edit that), I just make an executable that people can use to set up their own configuration quite easily."

(This tweak is intended for use with GeForce/Quadro cards and ForceWare 55.xx - 7x.xx 3D Stereo drivers. NVTweak is not fully compatible with Windows 98/Me or driver versions older than 55.xx.)

P.S. Sure, it's a large file, but it's not a memory resident thing, it's just a "control panel" for controlling the things that the coolbits files enable.

I just don't see the point... I'd be less comfortable letting an .exe program make changes that aren't logged than letting a .reg file make a single change to a registry value that I can verify by opening the .reg file in Notepad. But I guess to make changes to Microsoft software, you may as well do it Microsoft style and add a bunch of bloat. 🙂

actually that sounds like an interesting proggy....

a front end to allow extra individual options in the nv control panel based on what you want/need
im gonna hafta look into this
