coolbits vs nvidia settings oc and frequencies

I oced my bfg 6800gt to 400x1100Mhz from nvidia settings in display properties with no problems. However, coolbits are mentioned in this forum as the tool for GPU ocing. Can anyone tell me the diference between this two methods.

I unsuccessfully tried a few higher speeds including the one found with Detect Optimal Frequencies(418x1109Mhz and 425x???? on the previous run). I am happy with 400x1100Mhz but what speeds worked for you?

"Coolbits" is a registry file which adds the OC options to the NV control panel applet, not sure how you are OC unless it's already been merged into your registry?
I've OC my BFG 6800GT from day 1 to 400/1100. I have been happy at Ultra speeds and haven't needed to increase the OC.

If you are using te XG drivers coolbits is already integrated into them. So basically you are already using coolbits anyways if you have the OC tab in the drivers.
