Cool XP 2500 Barton

I need a beter heatsink and 80mm fan than I have on my XP 2500 Barton. It is running at 124F. What tempature should I try to keep the chip at? I have a top Blowhole with a 80mm fan and a 80mm fan in the side panel.Do I need to put a 120mm fan in the side panel instead of the 80mm fan or What? Thanks

slk947/sp-97 btw, we use c for comp temps. a neat trick, google does conversion. type. 124f to c and it'll give u the answer🙂
50c is ok. unless u want to overclock

i hate starting my own threads .. so let me ask this.

first .. 2500+ oc'ed to 3200+

the last few months, since spring, my idle temps are around 50 and load 54 for cpu and 32C case.

this happened before and i replaced the AS3. Then it was ok for a bit and then got hight again. This was fine for the fall and part of spring because my room was colder.

Last week, i replaced the AS3 and the temps didn't change. I went out and bought some AS5 and the temps dropped 1 degree or so, but nothing good. I know the break in time is needed but i don't see myself getting back down to the 40, 42 idle / 48 load days.

-- i know the heatsink is properly applied because i've done it jillions of times and the heatsink is warm to the touch.

is it time for a faster fan for the summer?

Now why don't people use metric for everything else? It makes everything so much simpler!
