Was hoping for a real video, not animation, but still kewl...

The real thing isn't nearly as glamorous nor as video-friendly as what you see in that animated video rendering.

Think hollywood versus real-life when it comes to non-fiction turned into movies. (Erin Brockovich for example)

You just saw the holly-wood movie version of making a chip, to see the actual process in a video in realtime at this point will just be a letdown.

Now the experience of standing in a fab watching things move around you would be a new experience that would upstage the hollywood video (like meeting Erin Brockovich in person for example), but you have to know a lot of people to get that done. Were this 2007 and were you interested in traveling to Dallas I would have gladly pushed through all the red tape to give you fab tour, those days are behind me now though.

It was a no-brainer. The moment I saw the custom avatar option I did a google search for "Cog image" and instantly got the one I was looking for.

Yeah I guess I like this video a little better since it doesn't depict the chip growing out of the wafer like some plant.

I liked that, had a lot of interesting info. It's quite amazing how these multi-million dollar fabs can still churn out CPUs for under $100.

AMD has a similar process, but they start with cow manure rather than sand. GIGO.
