Yea, pretty cool... until it crashes into a residential neighborhood and kills several people. :|

"Permission to buzz the tower?"

But yeah, I've seen something like that in person. I was out camping in the Adirondacks. My uncle and I were in a canoe and we saw a couple of A-10s coming over the mountains doing maneuvers. It took us to second to realize that they were getting into attack formation and heading straight for us. And then they flew right over us as we were yelling "YES!" Coolest thing ever. I wish I was a fighter pilot, just so I could do stuff like that...and fire bullets as big as my arm, of course.

Edit:
Yea, pretty cool... until it crashes into a residential neighborhood and kills several people.
Pilots are trained to do stuff like this, and assisted by onboard computers. That crash was caused by severe malfunctions in the aircraft, not pilot error.

my point is shit happens. he acted all mad like the crash was avoidable. planes will crash. people will die. the world will go on.

It was a tragedy, but tragedies happen every day in numerous forms.

Geez, did that crash in san diego kill your parents or something? Clearly it was a freak accident and not something that happens everyday like automobile crashes.. I'm guessing that would be mikey's point if you were wondering.

God I'd like to be a fighter pilot. Not just for stunts like that either. Only problem is I'm terrible at taking orders (unless I understand them), and from what I hear pilots aren't exactly in high demand like the olden days.

I suppose I can just get really rich and buy a surplus Mig or something. :p

Yes, but mentioning that at least makes sense, I mean, look at the thread title. F-18, the same type of jet that recently crashed (and like you said it doesn't happen often, which is why it would be more noteworthy). I'm sure there were probably more people killed in boating accidents than airplane crashes today, but what that has to do with this thread is beyond me. I was further confused when he posted the exact same thing twice and acts like he can't figure out why someone would've mentioned that crash.
