If you want good glasses, especially for driving, look into Polarized lenses. You'll pay more but it's worth it.

Also, if you aren't obsessive about carrying around a good cleaning cloth, you should look at ones with glass lenses. They're heavier but have better optics and are a LOT more scratch resistant, meaning you'd be safe cleaning them with your shirt.

My vote goes to Smith or Maui Jim.. Oakleys are good if you don't mind the fact that they're fragile as all hell.

A lot of them don't even block the UV, which is why they're so cheap. You only have 1 set of eyes, if you're going to buy sunglasses, buy ones that will protect them.

Show me a unbiased study that shows that.

Everybody loves to say this but I always say prove it, and they NEVER come back with unbiased data to support this junk.

please. I've seen it in a bunch of reports and stories that are not biased. don't be silly. they're just dark lenses that open up your pupils but don't block uv, so it's worse for your eyes. link

on that note, i have a pair of xmetal juliets, and i love them. very stiff/durable

I spent $600 on my most recent Oakleys, got them a week after they came out, they were impossible to find.

*sigh* what a waste of money.

B&L RayBan made a "chrom-x" lens that was great. But they only made it for a year or so. Mabe it was to expensive or difficult to make but it was a great contrast enhancing lenz. Would like to get another pair if they still make em...otherwise the "ambermatic" rayban is a good driving lenz.

I picked up a pair of "Mako" sunglasses reduced from AU$200 to AU$100 the other week...

their the wire frame type, but I like them..

Just make sure you get a pair of sunglasses that are going to protect your eyes, not damage them.

Cheers!

Fake Oakleys own me!! I got this exact pair at the market for $8.00 :) Funny thing is, it runs for $275.00 on the Oakley site, AND THIS THING LOOKS THE BLOODY SAME!!!!!!!! ahahhaa. Not only that, but the lenses work real nice. I find they work real good for driving too. The fake lenses used to be crap but the local dealer here must've got new ones cause the lenses are now much nicer.

Sure, the fakes only last me about 4 months but who cares, they are less than 10 bucks and I'm probably tired of them at that point and I can go get a different model or different color :)
