Replaced 4400 with Opteron 170.

Cool & Quiet not working.

Do I need to install Power Now?

Thanks

ps: 1st boot at 2600Mhz (10x260) @ 1.392V was a success!

Cool N Quiet needs driver support to enable.

Also, if you are overclocking it will not work correctly or at all (CnQ adjusts the multiplier "on the fly", if you have a set multiplier it won't work).

worked find at 2400 with X2

it looks the errors i get are driver issues --- difference between Athlon 64 X2 and Opteron 170's.

Wrote an email to DFI:

Hello DFI,

Using latest published BIOS on a DFI Ultra-D motherboard discovered that the Cool & Quiet is not functioning with my new Opteron 170 939 dual core processor.

I replaced the CPU from an Athlon 64 X2 4400+ with an Opteron 170 CPU, resulting in:

1) Cool & Quiet is not functioning
2) AMD dashboard can?t find the PSS Power States

I called AMD Tech Support, and they told me:

1) That the Opteron 170 supports Cool & Quiet ? but only two states 1) 1800 and 2) 1100, contrary to the X2 having more states
2) That the DFI Ultra-D is not an approved motherboard.

Do you have an updated BIOS that fixes this problem?

Thank you,
