Cool N Quiet isn't working for me

It's intermittent.

I have C1E disabled in the BIOS and CNQ set to "auto" or else "on".

My CPU is heavily overclocked; I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Have any of you had problems with your Phenom II not throttling down when idle? My CPU is constantly running at full speed and full voltage eating up too much power.

You can manually tweak Power Profiles according to your ever-changing needs. Minimum processor speed, that is. Available on Windows 6.0 and up.

Yeah, I think it's ok at its default setting though. I used to use K10STAT which lets you tweak the voltage at the other p-states, but I figure I might save $1 per year so it's not worth the effort.

Generally, K10STAT isn't worth the effort, imho. Only feasible, when you must not use C'n'Q or need more precision.

What is your CPU multiplier? Can you get Cool'n'Quiet to work with a multiplier setting of 18x or higher?

I'm arbitrarily limiting my overclock to a multiplier of 17.5x because I thought that it would allow me to continue using C'n'Q. My overall overclock is about the same, because i raised my base clock, but that required me to fiddle around with other settings. It would have been easier to just change the multiplier, but I don't want to loose C'n'Q.

On one MSI board when overclocked, my 965 used to lose the ability to downclock itself when resuming back from sleep.

My 960T is overclocked to 3800 (multiplier 19x), and Cool n' Quiet partially works. Frequency drops in steps as expected, but CPU-Z says that the voltage never drops--it always stays the same.

I have CIE enabled, but it seems to make no difference.

You would benefit from K10STAT, then. It's actually a great program; better than AMD Overdrive in a lot of ways.
