Where can I find an amd driver for vista for my x2, or is there any other way to enable Cool n' Quiet without the driver?

Vista should support it natively. In Control Panel select the Balanced scheme in the power settings.

"Balanced" was selected already...

I think this is correct. I don't think any drivers are needed.

I could never get it to work in any of the pre release versions of Vista I tried so it may not be supported in the released version either.

Don't know about your MOBO, but ASUS has released a beta BIOS that supports C&Q with Vista.

Try all the CnQ options in the BIOS. On my ASRock board I had CnQ set to auto but it did not work, I had to set it to enabled (I thought the same thing at first, that it was a setting or driver problem in Vista). Anyways you've probably already tried this, but just thought I'd throw that out there.

Any update?

My work around is to use RightMark to contol the stepping but I'm still looking for a cpu fan control utility because the fan is going at full speed. I guess we need to wait for either a new bios for the K8NGM2-FID or some kind of patch from MS to fix the cool'n'quiet detection. Actually maybe there is a registry edit to force it on, anyone looked?
