GOLDEN - An Arvada mother has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for hosting sex-and-alcohol parties for teenagers.

Silvia Johnson, 41, pleaded guilty earlier this year to two counts of sexual assault, and nine counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Prosecutors say Johnson held parties at her home and gave teens alcohol, marijuana and methamphetamine. She also had sex with some of the boys.

Several parents of the teenage boys that Johnson assaulted were in court to testify Monday. The prosecution described her as perverse and a manipulator.

But a defense expert pointed to Johnson's history of mental problems and said that she is bi-polar.

Johnson cried during much of the proceeding and held her head in her hands.

She was to have been sentenced September 26th, but that hearing had to be postponed after a serious traffic accident a day earlier.

Johnson and three children were hurt when the SUV they were riding in rolled down an embankment along Interstate 25.

A 14-year-old girl was behind the wheel, and one of the other children inside was Johnson's son.

Johnson was hospitalized after the crash. Once released, she was returned to the Jefferson County Detention Facility.

Johnson admitted inviting underage students to her home for the parties because she wanted her daughter's friends to think of her as a "cool mom."

She faces additional charges in connection with the SUV crash.

In an interview police taped after the first arrest, Johnson talks about why she hosted the teenage parties. "I fell in love with being a part of the group in a way," she said. "Because that was never something (inaudible), never something I was a part of growing up. I was never in the popular group.

I was never "this" - never "cool" - never any of this kind of stuff. Where here I was always considered "cool" - the "cool" mom, you know."

EDIT*** WTF!!! dude you were 17, you knew exactly what you were doing.

"Assaulted", ha ha ha, ha ha......ha. Give me a fvcking break. It takes two to tango. Those boys were having the time of their lives when they had sex with her, hardly the victims of "assault".

Ask the victims if they want to prosecute her...

After seeing a pic of the mom, maybe 30 years is a good sentence!

if this is the way to send a message why aren't rapists and molesters given 30 years? why isn't martha stewart in jail for 30? hell, why arent drunk drivers who actually threaten the lives of others by their actions in jail for 30 years to send a frickin message.

LMFAO:

Jonathan, who was 17 at the time, says he had sex with Johnson twice, the first time while he was nearly passed out from drinking.
The dude is a freaking TARD. TWICE?!?!?

19-year-old Jonathan Tuenge, says he wishes he'd never set foot in the home of 40-year-old Silvia Johnson
<-- he was so disgusted he went back there and ended up having sex AGAIN?!

I call bullsh!t on the right for this kid to claim ANYTHING.

people have gotten WAY less for attempted murder or assault with a deadly weapon...it reminds me of that guy with the declaration of independence in his profile. 200 something words in the declaration of independence, but like 2000 words for the sale of cabbage (something like taht)

30 years is definitely excessive, though this is just another of millions of examples why we need some sort of limit to procreation. Nothing like China's, but requiring prospective parents to pass a course on the basics would be a great start.
