Anyone get sick of having to open their case every time they have to clear the CMOS? How about hooking a switch across the clear CMOS pins in your mobo? Good idea, no?

That would be nice, especially on the damn A7V series motherboards that don't even have pins for clearing rhe CMOS; just two solder dots that you have to connect yourself with a piece of wire. :|

The PC gieger from PC mods has a switch to clear the cmos. I have one and I love it. It's on sale now too! Check it out HERE. I also have MBM which broadcasts CPU temp on port 80h so no need for a separate Temp module.

seriously.....How often do you have to clear your cmos? Not meaning anything bad here, but I was just wondering how often you would use it.

Actually, I kind of like this idea. I'm constantly messing with things in my machine and occasionally have the need to clear the CMOS. That little damn jumper is buried over the river and through woods, between the PCI cards, and behind the Lazy-Boy so it's a complete PITA to access. I'm all for taking one extra step to save a few steps later on.

If you OC at all, and push it too far. um not me of course, but I got one. It's only just in case though. Really.

oh man, I was just thinking that today while "testing" a new mobo

well if you overclock and it fails you can always hold down the insert key while resetting and it will work (at least on ABIT motherboards)
