Cool case?

Right now my system is overheating like crazy... its probably my lack of fans and cheap case.

So i'm looking for a nice aluminum case, thats quiet, and is really cool.

Right now i could pay upwards of 200 bucks a case. Size isn't really much of an issue, but i do go to the occasional lan party.

Anyone have any suggestions?

niec cases do not even cost 200 dollars. antec p180, super lan boy, silverstone tj06 (very tall and i don't think its very portable, but awesome case), lian li makes great ones too.

go for lian li. but noise might be a bit of a bother if you have loud components. Antec if you want basic, yet great, cooling. look for one with large input/large output. 12cm in and out would be awesome

you could buy a super lanboy which seems to be the cheapest big name aluminum case out there.

i've got a coolermaster wavemaster, i dont think its got the greatest cooling, but it is a really nice case and its around $125. i coudl recommend that too.

No one recommended the Coolermaster Stacker yet? You can get in more than four 120mm fans, and it's really roomy. About 160 bucks.

Hard to beat the Skyhawk aluminum case on sale this weekend at Newegg if they have any left. Has mobo tray, etc. $32. shipped. This is one case where "too good to be true" IS true! Dealsonic.com has a more Lian Li looking version but it costs quite a bit more assuming equal shipping (3-day). Comes close if you have it shipped ground.
. These Skyhawks will need a bit of modding to get to currently expected levels of cool and quiet, but at a starting point of $32...
. Then there's always the Antec P180 - the current SOA in cool and quiet in the under $150 price bracket. But it's a bit big and heavy for lugging to LAN parties. However a neat, heavy-duty aluminum folding luggage cart would make a points-added LAN party accessory... 😉

hows the v2000b?

It's one of the coolest cases out there, but it's really expensive, upper end of your budget. You don't really need a case like that if all you want is to keep it cool, just get an Antec P180 or Stacker or something along those lines and you're fine.

The Wavemaster uses only 80mm fans which is very limiting.

How about the Antec P180? It has excellent cooling, much better than lian li, but looks very similar to one of their models.

Eh my friend has it... all his stuff overheats all the time and i just dont like the quality of the case. Seems kinda flimsy.

i have a wave master and well. as far as build quality is concerned its like well a great case. evne the front panel is made of solid aluminum.

it is ok i guess fan wise. if you remove the top mount usb/firewire/audio ports, i guess you can have a total of 4 80mm fans, which should be plenty (it is far plenty for me, i dont even use any of the fans to keep my system quiet)

The skyhawk is a POS. Dont buy it. That being said, I used it for my dad's PC. 🙂
