It's a cool sight when I saw that a bird actually made a nest on one of the plants in my garden. When I peeped into it (the nest is actually just like 5 feet off the ground), I saw 2 purple spotted eggs. Man... I wonder when those things will hatch! :) Hopefully I don't disturb the mother bird too much that she'll abandon her nest!

Cool!

We had a momma sparrow make a nest in a hanging plant near our front door. Ww were sure not to disturb the nest, or touch anything. She had 4 rather ugly babies, and they would squawk whenever they heard the front door opening, they though it meant their mom was coming with food. :)

The ending isn't so great, I also have 7 cats, and 2 of them perched themselves outside the nest. I was leaving for work one day, and saw one of them struggle up and out of the nest, and jump off, trying for the first flight. My damn cat jumped out of the bushes, batted it down, grabbed it in his teeth, and ran. I chased him, hoping to get the birdie back, but he ran into the woods.

Can't get too mad at the cat, it's just nature.

It was really nice to see a nature cycle happen so close to us..

Awww!

We have a lot of hummingbirds come around this time of year, I've never seen their nest, but we do put feeders out for them. :)

Their nests are really hard to spot b/c they can be as as small as 1 in - 2inchs across. So from the ground you know it looks like a patch or something. However there are probably nests if you have feeders :D

Uhh.. Nopes, I know it's a rather slim and long bird... {GG}

<< Someone has way to much time on their hands. >>

Actually no :D It so happened that the bird built a nest right next to where I park my car ;)

I once had a Morning(sp?) Dove nest in my Lemon tree but I went to go look at it so much, the bird never came back and its 2 eggs were gone too! I wonder where the eggs went!

i have a few bird houses, and as landlord it's important for me to keep them in good shape. one time i was glueing it on to support some extra fat father that sat on the perch (IMO fat) and these two little finches (the mom and fat dad i guess) attacked me for trying to add some foundation to their home. jeez, tenents, what can you do? :)
