Gel battery on its side under the seat or tank.

Could also be a total loss system running the ignition on a magneto.
 
It's probably a kick start only. I love it, cafe racer style bikes look great.

Nope, that's a DOHC Honda engine, 1979 was the first year for that engine and they were electric start only, they never had kick start on that motor...only the earlier SOHC engines had the kick starter. In fact, that looks like a 1979 CB750 frame and motor (I had one myself).

Cool bike though. I like it!

ihave a 79 cb750 monster as well. great bike. wish it had kick start many times tho hehe.
