Getting bored with smacktards and tk'ers? Thinking there must be more to life than this? Well...at least concerning BF1942, but then again what else IS there but BF1942??
The guys over at www.battleforeurope.com have a little thing we like to call World War going on, and they're doing it in a way that allows for individual players to sign up, sans clan membership, get access to a private server where you are thrown into battle alongside newly met Division mates. When you sign up at first you can either pick a side - Axis or Allies - or you're assigned one. From that point on you belong to that division where you're given a chance to tryout for the different squads (air, armor, infantry, naval, special forces, etc) and gain rank with acheivements. The War is on-going with Divisional wins and losses and other stats recorded along the way.
Battles are scheduled, giving each side a chance to prep strategies on their private forums. Squads are handed assignements; players, who've attained rank through acheivements and possibly by having a brother-in-law who's a general in their Division (hey! whoever said anything was fair?) hand out commands to their squads. And then, boys and girls, you go to war! And this happens each week - not the puny 1 hour matchs you get in clan play but full blown, show-up-when-you-can 12 hour long campaigns.
All and all it's a nice away from the bump and grind of server-hopping each night, and you will meet other skilled players in your Division. The most fun to be had on BF1942 is when you're playing with a purpose, surrounded by capable, invovled teammates, and at BattleForEurope that's what you'll get more than not. Give it a try
It seems like a cool idea and I think I'm going to try it out.
