those joystick controls are pretty cool. When both pilots use em at the same time an averaging algorithm determines the direction.

so if the plane is approaching a mountain and pilot banks hard left and copilot banks hard right the plane crashes into the mountain?

It looks too complicated. Apple needs to get in airline iOS business and create a new magical cockpit that lets you do everything with just one button and one touch screen.

Can't believe pilots are paid dirt cheap (30K/yr) to operate all that and responsible for lives of others.

Yeah, no A380 pilots are getting paid that little. That salary is pretty standard for a regional but not any of the airlines with an A380

Are you referring to China Airlines pilots?

No, our American pilots. I was batshit surprised myself when I did a case study back in college on JetBlue. They make nothing.

I believe they still make that little, fresh out of school and still upto 5-7 years.

I'm suprised that the seats are such crap city buses have better seats:confused:

What makes you think the seats are 'crap city'? These are long haul aircraft, the seats are going to be very comfortable, yet durable. Just because they are not leather covered does not mean they will be uncomfortable.

If you are talking about the seats in the rear, they are jumpseats, not intended to be occupied for the duration of the flight as the pilot and copilots seats are.

It's true that small regional carriers pay their pilots about the same as a city bus driver, if not less. But most of those pilots are young, trying to build up hours before moving over to an entry aircraft on a main line carrier. Starting as an FO on say a 737 ML operator would immediately bump salary from the 30s to 80 and up I would say.

When I use to work for Delta around 1999-2001, 777 captains would usually top out at around $350K/year. Not to mention amazing retirement packages.

I would imagine that an A380 captain makes something similar.
