I got me 3 very nice striploin steaks and each are about an inch thick.

I am not sure the best way to cook them up. I do prefer medium doneness.

what are my options here for best results?

thanks.

Oh God...he asked about cooking steaks on ATOT.

EVERYONE ASSUME CAST IRON SEARED SOUS VIDE IMPORTED PERUVIAN UNICORN WOOD CHARCOAL POSITIONS!!!!

:D

Seriously though: heavy salt and pepper on both sides of the room temperature steak. Heat a cast iron pan as hot as you can get it. Add some peanut or grapeseed oil to the pan, fry about 4-5 minutes on each side, then add a tablespoon of butter to the pan. Spoon the browned butter over the steak, then remove from the pan and let it rest about 5 minutes.

Done. Not much to it.

first get a virgin

sacrifice said virgin to Alton brown.

get out cast iron pan and get that fucker hot

put steak on it for 20 minutes each side.

throw out steak because overcooked

go to Texas roadhouse.

for those i just throw on the grill for a little bit. I have seen people throw right on the lump charcoal. with something like this though i like plenty of sides or slice it up for taco's or such

Personally, I would grill it. I enjoy that more than the cast iron, even if it more work.

I believe it was Kaido that posted a method of sea salt and pepper while letting it sit, rinsing it, and then cook and that has become my preferred method.

Whatever you do, don't overcook it and don't forget to let it rest.

Set up your grill for two zone cooking. Heat the steaks on the cooler side until they just reach the desired doneness then move them to the hot side set at highest heat to get a good sear on the outside.

I just use a skillet. For medium, it should be about as firm as the palm of your hand.

I say you take off and nuke the entire steak from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
