So I want to cook some ribs tonight for a BBQ we're having with friends. I'm going to be using a memphis rub recipe. So I make the rub, put it on, then what? Is there a trick to this? Everyone in my office says they've "never attempted to cook them,".

All I know is you don't want them in direct heat, so I guess just place them on the edge of the grill? I will be grilling these, not smoking.

mmmmm ribs...

many different ways... will have difficulty finding a consensus i suspect. growing up my parents would boil first, then finish on the grill. alton brown bakes them in a foil pouch. some people will hang you for not smoking them for 100 hrs. i bet just dropping them in a crock pot for a day would probably be pretty tasty as well

Yeah, I suppose you're right. All I know you can't have direct heat on them, so I suppose I'll just wing it maybe!

Remove the membrane. Apply rub liberally to both sides (press down to ensure adhesion). Throw ribs away because they're not kosher.

Losely wrap in foil, put a can of apple juice in the grill, and roast for about 4 hours at 160F.

pretty much what HCR said. ive heard everything from grill only, to boil then grill, to bake then grill. also theres the foil thing.

I boil mine, place in fridge overnight in some BBQ, next day put them in a slow cooker for 8-10 hrs with BBQ and 1-2tbsp honey and stir every 1-2 hrs/

If I want literally fall off the bones, almost drink the meat type tenderness, I'll:

Apply rub
Put in fridge
turn oven on 200 next night before bed
Remove ribs from fridge
remove foil
Place ribs in baking pan with apple juice, onions, carrots and apples
Cover pan with foil to keep moisture in
take out of oven next day
Put in fridge
Finish whenever on grill while applying bbq sauce

EDIT: Put steps into different lines
