Steak + insta-salad + microwaveable baked potato. Impresses many people that I know. :D

That or hamburger helper + instant pasta salad.

a salad should be pretty simple, or you could do tacos with diced onions, tomatoes stuff like that. that seems pretty simple, depends on what she likes, I think cooking a homemade lasagna would be pretty easy.

Spaghetti is easy. I don't think making your own sauce would be that difficult... do a search for some recipes. Then just make up a nice salad and put some garlic bread in the oven.

he's got a good idea, you could even cook up some hamburger to put in the sauce, my mom does that. Also, another idea, for the garlic bread you could just buy a loaf of white unsliced bread. I think they sell it at walmart, just butter that up and sprinkle some garlic powder (LIGHTLY) over the bread. also, spreading some shredded cheese over them and a tad bit of oregano wouldn't be too bad :)

mmmmm :)

get some mixed greens from the supermarket, cook a nice NY Strip or two, slice them thinly, place on top of the salad. crumble some bleu cheese on top. get some salad dressings (several kinds) and the main meal is done. Go get a loaf of french bread, slice it, spread some butter and garlic powder on it, put in oven set to broil for a couple minutes until it's toasty on top. Find some nice cheap wine, cabernet sauvingon or pinot noir, and buy a cheap set of wine glasses. Find some long candles, cut the lights, put on some soft classical music, and you're golden!
The key is the setting, make sure you're not sitting on your couch watching tv. sit down at a dinner table and make some conversation.

What do you have by way of cooking equipment?

range, toaster oven, microwave, grill.

as for stuff to cook with, not much, but my parents are decently close and i could borrow almost anything that you use to cook chinese food from my mother(and maybe some pasta stuff).

that sounds really good, but were not that serious yet. It's only our 5th date(and neither of us are 21) so maybe something slightly less formal...

The spaghetti sounds nice.

Try something wildly outrageous, like duck a la orange or something. Screw it up royally. Then bring out the box of cheerio's and share.

Just go to your local grocery store.

Buy a pre made meal. Like Bertolli or something.
Put it on a skillet for 15-20 min and you're done :p

If you want to put some personal touches to it, add a pinch of salt and pepper.

My SO makes delicious spaghetti sauce. He browns some meat, and adds green peppers, onions and other veggies, then drains the meat and adds a jar of Prego. Mix and heat. Pour over some spaghetti and top with parmesean cheese and/or oregano. Mmm...

here's a simple pasta/sauce recipe......get about 4 small sized tomatoes, roma preferably...dice them up...get about a 1/4 cup of sun dried tomatoes, 2 small pieces of garlic...mince them all up and put the entire contents into a pot...add a little pepper, a little virgin olive oil and if you like anchovies, add 2 to 4 pieces all chopped up. Simmer this on the stove on low heat for about 20 minutes..also if you like olives you can add the sundried type to the mix but take the pits out...in the meantime you can boil up some rigatoni or penne...and in about 20 minutes you just have made Puttanesca....when the sauce is mixed with the pasta you can add Parmesan cheese and some fresh basil leaves to the top of the pasta....nows there a dish for you....Salute

I think the tomato sauce in cans are better those in jar ones. it is cheaper too.

Scratch that. Stay away from anything with a moderate or heavy amount of garlic.

Candles + soft music = on bed
