No matter how it looks, smell is the first indication it is going bad.
I had a chicken in my fridge and was going to cook it but it smelled so i threw it out.
I do not think eating a bad chicken just to not waste $4 is worth getting food poisioning over.

IF i get a bad smell from chicken its gone. not worth getting sick on the stuff. Also call the store and tell them. odds are they will give you a credit for it.
