Cooking! 1 inch thick t-bone on electric frying pan

What temperature pan and what prep? Brush oil on the steak? I know to take the steaks out of the fridge an hour or so before cooking. All I want are a couple of simple good steaks. I like medium rare but the other one has to be... almost well...

to get a good crust/whatever you call it, the meat can't be wet
use a hot pan
