This is *almost* the best cookie ever. Add macadamia nut pieces to make it the best cookie ever. You can also use dried sour cherries instead of cranberries, but either works.

hmm, thanks for the sour cherries idea!

one day, i'll get around to adding macadamia nut to my fave chocolate chip cookie recipe.

I REALLY WANT! They look delicious X.

they were. ;)

Allow me to threadcrap by saying "Booooooooo" to any cookie that pays homage to that false idol known as "white chocolate". It's white, but it sure as shit ain't chocolate.

I agree that it's not chocolate, but in some recipes, it's damned good...and "real" chocolate would overpower the flavors in the cookie.

this! :awe:

They look great, but not enough crunch and nutty flavor.

I think best two ingredients for cookies are blocks of non-white chocolate and macadamia nuts.

:hmm: i thought farm raised was better for seafood.

negatives about most aquatic "farms"
- lots of pollution - runoff, wastewater, etc
- fish are fed unnatural diets, including grain & ground up fish bits. result is higher mercury concentrations and lower omega-3 fatty acid ratios.

the healthiest (for you and the environment) and tastiest seafood is wild caught using sustainable fishing techniques. Unfortunately most wild-caught shrimp are caught with seine nets which result in large amounts of bycatch casualties. I'd have to look into it more, but that may be one seafood item worth going farmed for.

ah, okay. so "wild caught" for seafood, except shrimp.

oh and does anyone know a good substitute for Crisco?

for this particular recipe, nope. (PM Boomerang, got the recipe from his post back in September). for cakes, i've used apple sauce to substitute for Crisco before.

So far, the wimmenz have made the oatmeal/white chocolate chip/cranberry/macadamia nut cookies, peanut butter cookies, thumbprints, Russian Tea Cakes, snickerdoodles, chocolate crinkles, and frosted sugar cut-out cookies.
Still to come, home-made bread, banana bread, and cranberry-nut bread.

The baked goods are by far my favorite part of the Christmas season.

ugh! the last few days i've read about bacon being added to cookies (here on ATOT), may have to give into peer pressure soon. :p

I'm baking these right now. I forgot to slightly flatten the first batch before sticking them in the oven though. Whoops.

The directions didn't indicate when to add the flour! I was reading and went "wait a second, my flour?" I added flour before I added the oats, like I do with my oatmeal raisin recipe.

Hrm, batch 1: very domed still, I wonder if they're cooked through. Oops. The parts I've nibbled off though are really good.
