cookie recipe question

2 1/8 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
12 tablespoons butter (1 1/2 sticks), melted and cooled slightly
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups chocolate chips


What is the difference between one large egg and one large egg yolk? Would i just crack an egg and dump everything in and that's the 1 large egg and then just the yolk, would I have to crack an egg and strain it?

Baking is all about ratios and recipes shouldn't be altered without knowing what you're doing. That said, cookies aren't exactly fine baking so it won't matter much. I gather that this is your first time baking this recipe? Just crack the egg into your hand and let the white drain through your fingers holding on to the yolk.

Eh, altering is OK, just don't expect it to turn out. Sometimes recipes have to be altered to make room for things like allergies and such.

Peanut Butter cookies are best cookies

Followed closely by snikerdoodles

I'll agree with the Peanut Butter cookies part...but I fucking hate snickerdoodles.

My wife bakes them all the time...for her, my daughter, and my grandkids....because when she makes peanut butter cookies...I refuse to share! :p

Baking is all about the chemistry and chemical reactions. Somethings you can alter...others, not.
