Cookie problems with IE6 on XP Pro

i had IE6 running on Win2000 real good for a month. it ran perfect until one day i noticed that it lost my login for all of my sites.

When I visit this messageboard, it would lose my login info---kinda like the cookies was being cleared or something. I would enter my screenname and password...and it would work for that IE session. but as soon as i CLOSE THE BROWSER, and open it backup... login info would be lost again.

then i formatted and put on XP... xp worked sweet for a month.. and just right now i reencountered that problem.

I noticed that the attributes for my cookies folder is checked for Read-Only. I unchecked that. set IE6 to accept ALL cookies. cleared all temp files. cleared history. cleared cookies. rebooted the system. and am still having the same problem. i opened the cookies folder and found that it was blank.

IE6.0 on XP Pro Corporate. all updates and patches. the only thing i did prior to having the problem was defragging my computer =\

okay now it'll lose the info immediately.

i can post a thread, click new thread, and ill have to reenter the info right there. this happens on 2/3 other messgeboards.

Try doing a repair or uninstall and reinstall for the IE6. Go to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS under CONTROL PANEL and then click in WINDOWS COMPONENTS. Uncheck IE and click next.

Is it poss you have a tweak somewhere else thats doing this? IE6, don't trust it yet. MS is releasing stuff too fast.
