Actually, title didn't change, but 2 more departments now report to me. So now, I manage for a Fortune 150 company:

Payroll/Benefits Accounting Dept.
Escheatment Department
Purchase Card Department (largest PCard program in the country) <--- new for me
Travel & Entertainment Card Department <--- new for me

over $1B in exposure to the company.

oh, and yes I got a raise - 10%.

ps - what the heck is escheatment?

Unclaimed property.

Example, if the company sent you a check for services you performed and the check got sent back, for whatever reason, and then we couldn't find you, then the company would eventually have to report that check to the state you reside. We can't keep the money. The state then tries to locate you. Ever see the "You may have money coming to you" sections in the newspaper (usually printed annually)? That's it. For our company, the exposure is about $25-40 million.

Congrats, CPA! Hope it doesn't mean doubling the number of mindless meetings you have to attend.

It didn't double them, it quadrupled them. And I hate meetings just on principle alone.

Question: What's your job title and what department do you work for, cpa?

Job Title = Manager - Finance

I actually report to a Director - Finance who heads the company's A/P department, but my focus is payroll/benefits accounting.
